Things from me about me …

My Fritz Box runs IPv6

| 0 comments

I installed the latest firmware (54.04.94-13992) for the AVM Fritz!Box Fon WLAN 7270 released on 31 march 2009. The 6to4 configuration just works out of the box on my DSL from EPT. Unfortunately EPT doesn’t run an own 6to4-relay so they currently route me to a 7 hops away Hurrican Electric 6to4-relay. I didn’t get the SIXXS support to work yet, I will retry it on some other day.

Surfing IPv6 just works, the dancing / wiggling Google logo looks nice on http://ipv6.google.com

The route is also extremely short.

Tracing route to ipv6.l.google.com [2001:4860:a003::68]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1     1 ms     1 ms     1 ms  fritz.box [2002:5363:54fa:0:21c:4aff:fe0a:887f]
2     37ms    36 ms     24 ms     2002:c058:6301::
3    37 ms    36 ms   101 ms  de-cix20.net.google.com [2001:7f8::3b41:0:1]
4    59 ms    37 ms    39 ms  2001:4860::23
5    38 ms    37 ms    37 ms  2001:4860:a003::68

Only 3 public hops (my DSL router excluded), is really good, compared to 19 hops on IPv4 for google.com and 12 for google.lu.
